EMBL (http://www.embl.org)
The European Molecular Biology Laboratory established in 1974, is Europe’s flagship laboratory for the life sciences – an intergovernmental organisation with more than 80 independent research groups covering the spectrum of molecular biology. It operates across six sites: Heidelberg (D), Barcelona (E), Hamburg (D), Grenoble (F), Rome (I) and EMBL-EBI Hinxton (UK). EMBL is international, innovative and interdisciplinary. The nearly 1,800 employees from 60 nations represent scientific disciplines including biology, physics, chemistry, and computer science. The cornerstones of EMBL's mission are: to perform basic research in molecular biology, to train scientists, students and visitors at all levels, to offer vital services to scientists in the member states, to develop new instruments and methods in the life sciences and technology transfer.
