University Hospital Düsseldorf Hematology, Oncology and Clinical Immunology

The Research Laboratory of the Department of Hematology, Oncology and Clinical Immunology is located at the Medical Research Center I (MFZ1, building 13.58) and the Preclinical Research Complex (HHU Vorklinik, building 22.04), together covering 600 m² of high-tech laboratories equipped for translational and basic research. The Research Laboratory combines basic research on Human Immunology and Molecular Biology with Functional Precision Medicine. The scientific aim is the systematic application of single- and multi-cell-OMICS (Genome, Transcriptome, Proteome, Metabolome, etc.), multi-parameter immunohistology by CODEX (CO-Detection by indEXing), immune receptor repertoire analysis (BCR/TCR/NK-TCR repertoire NGS), drug screening technologies and functional analyses of primary cells, cell lines, and 3D culture models of human tumor samples and age-matched normal tissues. The detailed and comprehensive mapping of transforming events, pathway dependencies, tumor plasticity and specific vulnerabilities in hematologic cancers are integrated by mathematical modelling and ultimately translated into the development of biology-based treatment strategies for precision medicine of blood cancer.
