About Us: The Department of Dermatology at the University Hospital Düsseldorf is a globally recognized Center for Advanced Research in skin diseases. Our state-of-the-art program encompasses a variety of projects including the study of the molecular drivers of chronic inflammatory skin diseases, the neuro-immune communication and microbe-host interactions. We use state-of-the-art OMICs techniques and in-house bioinformatics combined with in vitro- and in vivo-models with the goal to translate basic science findings into clinical use.
Postdoctoral Researcher (m/f/d)

- DFG-RU5489 Investigating the ambiguous ways of the aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AHR) signalling in skin diseases: The AHR as a target for microbe-host interaction
- EU-SKINDEV (Skin microbial devices; No 101098826): Designing genetically modified probiotic organisms to treat atopic skin inflammation
- DFG-HO 2092/8-1: Epidermal growth factor signaling controls skin barrier function and the cutaneous microbiome
- FOKO 2023-40: Precision-cut skin slices as a novel tool for precision medicine in patients with refractory/therapy-resistant psoriatic inflammation
Position Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Postdoctoral Researcher with a focus in immunology and/or microbiology to join our lab team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in advancing our research, employing in vitro- and in vivo-models together with state of the art OMICs and imaging technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting high-level research within the scope of our projects.
- Experiment design, implementation, data collection, and analysis.
- Perform various omics technologies and laboratory techniques.
- Supervision of PhD and MD students
- Collaboration with a team of bioinformaticians, wet lab researchers and clinicians.
- Contributing to the writing of research papers and grant proposals.
- Presenting research findings at workshops and conferences.
- Participates in collaboration with other biological and clinician scientists throughout the academic community.
- Helps develop laboratory culture of urgency and scientific excellence with a focus on therapeutic impact.
Qualifications:
- PhD in Biology, Molecular (Cell) Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences, or related field.
- Extensive experience in laboratory research, preferably in dermatology or related areas.
- Expert in western blotting, ELISA, qPCR, FACS, and cell culture.
- Proficiency in OMICs technologies and data analysis.
- Substantialexperience in cellular and molecular immunology methods.
- Knowledge on, or experience in working on cutaneous microbiome, with special regards to Cutibacterium acnes and Staphylococcus aureus.
- Exceptional scientific background, strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals and a track-record of problem-solving and delivery.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills with close attention to details and strong time management skills.
- Strong ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Collaborative mindset - strong teamworking capabilities, proactive in helping the team succeed, and takes ownership of team-based tasks
- Proficiency in English language. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Rapid learning and understanding skills in the following fields: organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, molecular design, pharmacokinetics, patent preparation and prosecution.

Salary range: income is determined within the TV-L E13 salary group. The Employment contract will be with the University of Duesseldorf.
