The Position
We are seeking a highly motivated scientist to join our research team, focusing on advancing our understanding of membrane proteins and protein design. This will enable the discovery of biologics for previously considered undruggable target proteins.
Scientist - Protein Science
Tasks & responsibilities
- In your new role, you will plan and execute projects in the lab on membrane protein purification and/or protein design and collaborate in interdisciplinary biologics discovery teams.
- Using state of the art in silico methods, you will design and engineer proteins with improved stability and solubility.
- Furthermore, you will develop and optimize protocols for the extraction and purification of membrane proteins, to enable challenging biologics drug discovery projects.
- You will analyze and interpret complex data sets using various biophysical and biochemical techniques to characterize protein-protein interactions and structure-function relationships, to increase our understanding of targets with novel biology.
- Additionally, you will contribute to the preparation of scientific reports, presentations, and publications to communicate research findings both internally and externally.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Biophysics or related discipline such as Biochemistry or Structural Biology, PhD is preferable
- Postdoctoral experience in protein science, with a focus on membrane proteins and/or protein design is valuable
- Proficient in using computational tools such as AlphaFold, Rosetta Suite, and ProteinMPNN for protein structure prediction, analysis, and design
- Expert in protein purification, including membrane protein extraction, chromatography, and reconstitution
- Proficient in protein characterization methods including nanoDSF, Mass Spectrometry, and SDS-PAGE
- Fluent in English written and spoken, German language skills are a plus
