Scientific Project and Lab Manager (m/f/d)
Due to the funding of the position, the position is limited to about 7 years (depending on the starting date).
Prof. Kaan Boztug is the newly recruited Clinical Director of the Department of Pediatric Immunology and Rheumatology at the University Hospital of Bonn and Principal Investigator of an ERC Consolidator grant (iDysChart), integrating basic research into mechanisms of immune dysregulation and clinical translation. The Boztug lab has a focus on deciphering the molecular origin of inborn errors of immunity and is integrated within the excellence cluster ImmunoSensation².
The Boztug lab is looking for an experienced and motivated Scientific Project and Lab Manager. In this key role, you will support our ongoing scientific research projects, particularly third-party funded initiatives, and work closely with the Director on both strategic and operational levels.
Your tasks:
- Assisting in managing and coordinating scientific projects (incl. third-party-funded projects)
- Organize and manage lab operations and logistics, including overseeing safety protocols, generating lab SOPs, and managing lab purchasing and finances
- Support research activities by conducting selected experiments and establishing standard experimental procedures
- Provide strategic support to the Director in scientific and academic matters, including the development of research concepts
- Support the Director in promoting the visibility of research outcomes, including organizing workshops, seminars, and presenting at scientific conferences
- Prepare scientific presentations, reports, and project proposals in collaboration with researchers
- Coordinate internal communication with project teams, external partners, and stakeholders
Your profile:
- Degree in Life Sciences (PhD preferred) or a related field; a specific background in immunology, hematology or genetics would be an additional asset
- Experience in scientific project management, preferably in a medical or academic setting
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Proven experience in preparing and managing third-party funding projects
- Strong proficiency in both German and English, with excellent report writing and presentation skills
- Highly self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently
