PhD student (m/f/d)
The part-time position (65 % ~ 25,025 h/week) is available immediately (or as soon as possible) and is for a period of three years (30.09.2027) due the promotion, with the possibility of extension.
The laboratory focuses on the mechanisms by which cytoplasmic viral RNA sensors RIG-I like receptors (RLRs) distinguish between viral (non-self) RNAs and self-RNAs and trigger antiviral type I. Current work examines the symptoms and molecular causes of spontaneous autoimmune diseases in RLR mutant mice models. The second main topic of our institute is the investigation of the molecular mechanisms and new therapeutic approaches for pandemic and endemic viral infections.
We are part of the DFG Cluster of Excellence ‘lmmunoSensation²’ and the SFB/Transregio 237 ‘Nucleic Acid Immunity’.
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated and team-oriented individual with a strong interest in immunological questions and experiments, as well as a great commitment to the research project. Experience with animal experimentation, microscopy and molecular biology techniques is advantageous. Candidates should have strong communicative skills with fluent spoken and written English. Candidates should have experience in cell biology, immunology and/or virology and hold a diploma or a master’s degree in biology, Molecular medicine, or a related subject.
