At the
Faculty of Mathematics, Institute of Algebra, the
Chair of Algebra with a Focus on Group Theory offers a position as
Research Associate / PhD Student (m/f/x)
(subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)
starting
September 1, 2024. The position comprises 60% of the full-time weekly hours and is limited to three years. The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG). The position offers the chance to obtain further academic qualification (usually PhD).
Activities and responsibilities
You will conduct research at the Chair of Algebra with a Focus on Group Theory within the DFG project \"Fusion Systems and Localities\" and in particular investigate the use of fusion systems in a new proof of parts of the classification of finite simple groups.
Qualification profile
You have a very good scientific university degree in the field of mathematics. Furthermore, you have extensive and profound experience in the field of finite group theory. A very good command of English is also desirable.
